Default Wasteland 2 by Brian Fargo, coming to a Kickstarter near You!

Wasteland 2 on Kickstarter

Yep, the first one to jump on the Double-Fine-Kickstarted Kickstarter bandwagon is no other than Brian Fargo with a sequel to quite a classic. With quite a team on board as well:
Quote:
Brian Fargo who Executive Produced both Wasteland and Fallout will be heading the team. Alan Pavlish and Mike Stackpole—the original game’s primary designers—are coming back to put the project together, and we’re rounding up as many of the other designers, like Ken St. Andre, as we can. On top of that, we’ll have music by Mark Morgan of Fallout 1 and 2 fame. The storyline for Wasteland 2 was written by Jason Anderson who was the co-creator of Fallout. We have also enlisted the help of the amazing concept artist, Andree Wallin to help craft the Wasteland 2 world.
Check it out, and as is custom with these deals lately, start throwing money at the screen!

Oh, they've also got a website with a dev blog and forum going for a while now:
Wasteland 2 - Inxile-Entertainment
but it's currently down. Which is probably a good sign

It's also a good sign, that $100.000 was pledged in approx. an hour!

EDIT: Ah, I was a bit too quick there, but 100k in approx. four hours is still very cool.

I never heard of Wasteland before, probably because I'm too young. But "music by Mark Morgan"? Hells yeah!

Can somebody outline the original for me, please? What made it so special? Would it make sense to try it out today?

I'm intrigued and will definitely support this. I don't know much about the original Wasteland but certainly know and love many of Interplay's games which Fargo oversaw.

The future of not just gaming, but entertainment in general - people fund the projects they'd like artists to create, and we cut out all the bullshit middlemen who complicate the process and take most of the profits for themselves.

I like where all this is going.

I saw this the other day and was a bit worried that it was only at a couple of thousand, how nice to look today and see that it's now at almost $700,000.

They've already exceeded the initial $900k funding (almost $1 million right now)

inXile has announced, that if the Kickstarter campaign reaches $2.1 million, they'll be teaming up with Obsidian Entertainment (Neverwinter Nights 2, Fallout: New Vegas).

Chris Avellone (Fallout 2, Planescape: Torment) will do some of the game design and writing, and furthermore inXile will have access to some of Obsidian's development tools.

This game is shaping up to possibly be one of the best of the decade. It's way too early, but Fargo really has his eyes set on this project.
