Well Pynchon is definitely an acquired taste so you better start with The Crying of Lot 49 just to get... acquainted. But I would say V is his best known -- V for Vendetta was inspired by it a lot, hence the main char name.

TiAgUh's definitely right about him being an acquired taste -- but you can definitely see him as an influence on Danielewski (in particular, the parts written by Johnny Truant - who is similar in a lot of ways to some of Pynchon's paranoid characters).

Gravity's Rainbow's a sprawling beast, and - in my opinion - very good; but definitely not the place to start. I'd agree again with ^ about The Crying of Lot 49

I used to have Goodreads but eventually I deleted it since I didn't have the time to update it properly. And in the end at that time I didn't have the time to read that much either.
Right now I have Jonathan Franzen's Freedom at the night table.
I started it yesterday. We'll see if I'm as thrilled with it as others have been.

I bought these on iBooks for my phone and am a bit miffed off because these are the only omnibus on the store and if I want to continue reading it's £4.99 a book! On the brightside they are an excellent read! Recommend to all True Blood fans.

I'm a huge fantasy fan, and have recently bought the new and current edition of Jack of Ravens by Mark Chadbourn. It is part af a series of 10 books that start with The age of Misrule trilogy.

At the "Boekenfestijn", a yearly book wholesale event near where I live, I have bought a boxset of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings in English.

Just bought A Dance with Dragons. Really looking forward to reading it. A Feast for Crows was amazing! This series really seems to get better with every book. Let's hope the same goes for the tv series as well.

I bought an essay collection by Umberto Eco at the student library off-sale for 1€, but I don't know what it is in English. Matka Arkipäivän Epätodellisuuteen in Finnish (something like "the journey to the unreal of the everyday" if translated both freely and exactly at the same time...)
