Evenings on a Farm Near Dikanka sequel announced
Game to be based on novellas of Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol
Moscow-based Step Creative Group announced today that it is working on a sequel to last year's third-person adventure game, Evenings on a Farm Near Diakanka. The sequel, currently dubbed Evening on the Eve of Ivan Kupal Holiday by its developers, features some of the same characters as its predecessor, and the game world has been significantly enlarged. The events of game occur several months after Vakula and Oksana (the main characters of the previous game, Evenings on a Farm Near Dikanka) have married. Young wife (Oksana) asks her husband (Vacula) to influence the head of the Dikanka village Golova. He doesn't want his daughter, Oksana's best friend, to get married with Petrus — young Cossack from the village, however, unfortunately absolutely penniless. In addition to Gogol's novellas, the game will also draw upon Russian legend and folklore. It is scheduled for a summer 2006 release. No English localization has been announced as of yet.
