Myst V to embrace all tastes
Choice between point & click and free-roaming modes

How do you end an enormously beloved adventure game series successfully? Rand Miller, who along with his brother Robin conceived the Myst universe over ten years ago, sat down with Gamehelper to talk about the upcoming Myst V: End Of Ages. Rand gave a glimpse of how the series will finally be drawn to a stunning close. What was revealed was intriguing, with this final installment promises refinement and ease and a mixture of old and new.

One feature this time around takes into account the jawdroppingly delicious world around you, the player. Paying attention to environmental and climatic clues will help you decide the fate of the Ages. This could mean such actions as triggering a rainstorm to reveal a piece of a puzzle, or even communicating with strange creatures by leaving them messages in the form of ancient symbols on stone tablets.

In fact, Rand talks about sucking the player far more into the gameworld by direct involvement and interaction. The classic point-&-click interface will be included, but also implemented will be a 'free-roam mode'. One guess is that it may be similar to the alternate, player controlled camera views in Gabriel Knight 3.

How does it all look, you ask? Just grab a bucket to drool in, and then view these screeshots.
