Level-5 to create a new DS adventure
RPG developer unveils Professor Layton and the Mysterious Village

Support for the Nintendo DS as an adventure platform continues to grow, and now even developers experienced in other genres are beginning to take notice.

As reported by several websites yesterday, including IGN, Japanese developer Level-5 has unveiled its first adventure, whose title translates to Professor Layton and the Mysterious Village. Better known for its successful console RPGs like Dark Cloud and Dragon Quest VIII, Level-5 will be self-publishing the new DS game in Japan.

The game reportedly follows the exploits of Professor Layton and his assistant, a young boy named Luke, as they discover a series of unique mysteries to solve upon their arrival in Mysterious Town.

For more information about the game, be sure to check out the official website. Unfortunately, the content is available only in Japanese, but the site still provides a glimpse of the game's unique art style and includes a downloadable trailer.

Professor Layton and the Mysterious Village is currently scheduled for release in Japan in February 2007, but there is no confirmation yet on an English version of the game.
