It's been a mystery whether Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened would ever reach North American shores, but the answer proved elementary all along, as CDV USA has announced a publishing agreement to release the game this fall.

The third Sherlock Holmes adventure from Frogwares released several months ago in Europe and other parts of the world, this time bringing the world of Watson and Holmes into full 3D. In The Awakened, the great detective sets out on the trail of a cult devoted to none other than Cthulhu, perhaps the greatest of H.P. Lovecraft's Great Old Ones. In blending the Cthulhu mthyos with a traditional detective mystery, the game is darker and more disturbing than Frogwares' previous games, taking players to such locations as a Swiss insane asylum, a Scottish lighthouse, the foggy swamps of New Orleans, and of course London and the famous 221b Baker Street.

The Awakened marks the second recent foray into the adventure genre for CDV USA, having also distributed Runaway: The Dream of the Turtle in North America earlier this year. CDV is currently targeting a September release for the new game.
