New version of The Awakened offers third-person option

As recently announced by Frogwares and Focus Home Interactive, a "Remastered Edition" of Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened will soon be available, and now the companies have offered up a playable demo to check out the changes first hand...

... or should I say third hand. While the new version does include some graphical improvements and gameplay enhancements, the most notable aspect of the update is the ability to play the game in a point-and-click, third-person perspective. The game's original free-roaming, first-person option remains, but players can now choose their method of preference, even switching between them at any point during the game if so desired.

The demo takes place near the beginning of the game, with Holmes and Watson exploring the London docks in search of a sailor who may have clues to your investigation into a series of mysterious disappearances. Instructions for switching perspectives are offered before the demo starts, along with additional information about the game's enhanced help system, which includes a hotspot highlighter. The demo weighs in at a sizeable 570 MB, and can be downloaded from the game's official website.

The new version of Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened is due for release as a standalone retail product on October 23rd. Additional details for those upgrading from the original version of the game are still to come.
