Yoomurjak's Ring finally fit for purchase
Long-awaited Hungarian FMV adventure now available for download

If the name Yoomurjak's Ring seems like a distant memory, that's because we haven't heard much about the FMV adventure from Private Moon Studios in many long months. A lot has clearly been going on behind the scenes in that time, however, as the game is not only back in the news today, it's now available for purchase and download.

Yoomurjak's Ring was originally funded by the Hungarian municipality of Eger as a tourist promotion, so during the course of the game, players are given an up-close look at the lovely town whose history dates back to the 10th century. This past is central to the game's plot as well. As American journalist Jonathan Hunt, travelling to Hungary to seek his cultural roots following his mother's death, players arrive in Eger to locate the descendants of Professor Pál Ábray, who wrote several letters that discuss the possibility of time travel and hint at the existence of a device to prove it. Jonathan soon meets up with an old man who claims his grandfather had triggered this device and gone back in time, leaving clues behind to be recorded by the "fictional" character of Yoomurjak in a famous historical book. While skeptical of the story, Jonathan decides to pursue the man's research, only to discover he's not the only one after the secrets of the past.

The game is presented in a node-based format, with 360-degree panning in each of the 600-plus scenes covering more than 30 different locations. Unlike most localized games, FMV fans will also be thrilled to know that the game includes more than 90 minutes of live-action film footage. Unlike most localized games, the voice acting in Yoomurjak's Ring remains Hungarian, with English subtitles only. For more information, be sure to check out our preview of the game.

At the present time, Yoomurjak's Ring is available exclusively for download at The Adventure Shop.
