Serial killers, the Knights Templar, purple tentacles and ghost pirates… Baddies in adventure games come in all shapes and sizes, and it’s always up to us to save the world – or at least ourselves. But what if we have seen the enemy, and he is us? In a case of art imitating life, that is the very serious question posed in Daedalic’s A New Beginning, an “eco-thriller” that tackles the critical issue of global warming.

In the 26th century, the planet is on the brink of annihilation, and the only hope is to send a few small science teams back in time to change the course of history. But time travel is an inexact science, and their first trip is a dismal, deadly failure. Now only a single pod remains, and a young woman named Fay has only one final chance to save mankind from itself. To do that, she’ll not only need to overcome rampant doubt, apathy, and greed (you know, all the things that got us INTO this mess) and restore the faith of disillusioned scientist Bent Svensson, together they’ll also have to solve a troubling host of puzzles along the way, while the fate of the world hangs precariously in the balance.

While “green” may be an important theme in this environmentally-conscious adventure, it’s the lack of green that’s just as noteworthy today. For three lucky winners, there are no greenbacks necessary to own it! That’s right, we are pleased to offer a trio of boxed copies of the game, courtesy of the game’s UK publisher, Lace Mamba Global.
