What’s that expression that says, “if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again”? Keep that in mind, and welcome to Kheops Studio’s Return to Mysterious Island 2: Mina’s Fate.
Those who played the first game may have thought they were free and clear of the island once populated by the characters of Jules Verne’s classic novel. But no. After being shipwrecked, players helped a young woman named Mina survive the many dangers, natural and man-made alike, in an attempt to arrange a rescue. By game’s end, it appeared she had done so successfully, but it turns out it was all for nothing. Well, “nothing” except a whole lot of fun in trying along the way.
Much to her chagrin but our benefit, Mina now finds herself back for a second go-round with the island, her over-sized inventory once more in tow. This time, she has a little help in the form of her simian pal Jep, who appeared in the first game but now gets a playable role. She’s going to need it, too, as it’s not only Mina’s fate that’s in jeopardy, but the entire island now facing imminent disaster. To save it, players will need to strive through hunger, injury, deadly predators, and even more obscure obstacles than ever.
If you’re not clear of the island just yet, at least Adventure Gamers can help you be free of any cost for the (second) return visit. Courtesy of our affiliate partners at The Adventure Shop, we are pleased to offer downloadable copies of the game to three lucky winners. All you need to do is correctly pass the Darwinian survival quiz below for your chance to win. It’s so simple even a monkey could do it, but if you do need some help, you’ll find all the answers you need in our review of the game or the official website.
The contest will run for one week, ending Sunday, August 23rd, and winners will be notified by message in a bottle (or email, whichever is deemed faster).
