Close. I'm pretty sure it's from EMI on Monkey Island. I can't remember which exact scene though, from the wind in the background, it might be from the boulder throwing puzzle at the top of the cliff.

I'm curious to know which games are #16 and #18 from, both tunes are beautiful. For a moment I thought #16 reminded me of something and that #18 could be from The Longest Journey. But I guess not, they must be two games that I haven't (still) played. |

@DustCropper Yeap, so it's Escape from Monkey Island afterall, and the tune is heard while in Vista Point on Monkey Island.

Based on your hints and the fact that it had seemed vaguely familiar anyway, I'm going to guess opening of Outcast for #18.

Right! It is Outcast, but i think it doesn't play at the beginning. Since i'm not really sure where does it play, i'll just reveal that the song is Heaven on Adelpha. It is listed as the fourth in the game soundtrack, after Soldier's Camp.

Can't seem to find my 7 Days a Skeptic files, so I'll guess it's from that.

i'll award you a point since there are no other candidates 7 days a Skeptic is correct, and it's the intro music - Yanni - One Man´s Dream.
And the music from Al Emmo plays while in Miner's Cabin. 01. (00:00) Al Emmo and The Lost Dutchman's Mine - Miner's Cabin (Kurufinwe) 02. (00:42) Atlantis: The Lost Tales - Sunriders (AFGNCAAP) 03. (09:01) Full Throttle - Drop The Hammer, End Credits (ollie) 16. (09:48) 7 Days a Skeptic - Opening Credits (Shany) 17. (10:27) Phantasmagoria - Take A Stand, End Credits (ollie) 18. (11:10) Outcast - Heaven on Adelpha (AFGNCAAP) 19. (11:51) Ripper - (Don't Fear) The Reaper (AFGNCAAP) 20. (12:27) Destination: Treasure Island - Main Theme (Kurufinwe) And that concludes it! Congratulations to all, you've been really quick this time. |

This was fun. Thanks diego!
That last one was hard, though. I managed to find music from the game just now (hidden in the Special Edition folder), but it was all midis. |

Thanx Shany.
Honestly, i didn't think music from 7 Days was going to be hard. But looking at how quickly you guessed all the tunes i'll have to make it "slightly" harder next time Last edited by diego; 08-29-2010 at 04:30 PM. |

At any rate, that was a fun quiz with great selection of music, thanks! And please don't overdo the difficulty of the next one - I enjoy being able to recognize some.

Time to revive this thread once again!
I'm posting a new file, with 20 extracts (numbered, by popular demand). But this time, there's a twist: all the pieces of music are renditions / adaptations of classical music*. Which means there are more chances to win! You can figure out what game (and what scene) the extract is from, but I'm also looking for the composer and title of the original piece. So if your adventure gaming culture sucks, you can at least show off your musical culture! (Note that I personally know very little about classical music, so all the pieces are very famous; if they hadn't been, I probably would never have realised that they were not original. So no pressure!) * Technically, there are a couple that do not really qualify as classical music, but close enough. My usual self-imposed rules: The 20 extracts are from 20 different games, none of them particularly obscure (all have been reviewed on AGs, except one, which is a well-known hybrid). Also, the extracts sound (as much as I could) exactly as they do in-game. Finally, while preparing this new file, I realised that the use of classical music was very frequent in older games, and pretty rare in newer games. So most of the games I used are pretty ancient. Consider yourselves warned. Also, on top of the games and the original classical pieces, there's a little extra thing to discover, as a special bonus. I'll let you figure out what it is. And that's it! Let's get started! P.S.: Please do not give too many answers at once, even if you know a lot, so that others in different time zones and with different schedules get a chance to play. As you can see, we don't get new files very often in this thread (they take a lot of time to make!), so let everyone a chance to enjoy them. |

Number 12 is the original Sonata for violin and piano in A major by Franck. Played by Anna Wolfe and Kronos in The Last Express.

Why am I not surprised that you recognised that one? You're correct, of course.

Right again. Obviously, the use of the Ride of the Valkyries in the bunny sequence is a reference to this.

I figured I'd give other people a chance to guess the game/piece themselves this early in the game. Hopefully, they would see that you've confirmed my guesses as correct.

Great idea for a medley! Let's place two of them for now:
1) It's Greensleeves, one of my favourite traditional English songs. Now, the game in question is either King's Quest 1 or 2 because i know they both had PC Speaker renditions of it. I've never played KQ 1 and 2 so i'll just go with Kings Quest 2. 8) No classical music medley is done without Toonstruck That's (again) Rossini's The Thieving Magpie played in Town Center. And already guessed William Tell Overture from Day of the Tentacle plays too in Toonstruck. Quote:
